Our scholarship program at Northport High School includes an award to a graduating senior who demonstrates the importance of loyalty in their lives. A committee of teachers, community members and Chris’s family chooses this award.
Another award goes to a graduating senior on both the girl and boy’s lacrosse teams. The recipient of this award, chosen by his or her teammates, is a member of the lacrosse team who, while not a starter, exemplifies loyalty, teamwork and the ability to use humor to help his or her teammates relax when the pressure is greatest; all traits that Christopher demonstrated while serving in the Marine Corps.
In addition to the above scholarships, there is also one available to a member of the graduating class who has chosen to enter the military after graduating high school, as Christopher did. A friend of Chris’ who chooses to remain anonymous funds this scholarship. We are grateful for their incredible generosity.
We are extremely proud of our community and grateful for the generosity and support we have been given over the years since Christopher’s death. We hope by “paying it forward” to our active military, veterans and community we are continuing Christopher’s legacy of service to his community and country.
